What do you think (Paying for my art?)

Posted by CherryLolo - June 26th, 2014

Some people asked me to draw for them. Guys... You have to understand. I'm an artist, I spend alot of time on one piece, I put so much effort in it, of course I can't draw for free all the time. Sometimes it's no problem.

One person paid me a PSN Card (worth 20€) which I find ok for 2 pictures that took me hours to draw. I told him I wanted something in return. A new idea I had was to make an amazon wish list and let people choose something to get for me haha.

Do you think it's ok to ask for something? Like 10-20€ per piece of art? I think it's not too much, since I'm really trying my best and draw as fast as possible. I understand if some people say, they don't find my art worth any money. On the other hand, as I said, it would be nice if they could understand my point of view.

Art takes time for it to show its worth.

True. Some people don't seem to think my art is worth anything yet. But then, they shouldn't ask me for any... :/

Art is your craft. I could see you doing free pieces for friends/family, but not for strangers. It's perfectly fine to ask for compensation for your time and work. If people don't think your art is worth anything, then don't take any of their requests. There are plenty of others who would gladly pay for a commission of your work

Thank you. That's what I thought.
Glad somebody else shares my opinion
